Umag is a small town on the west side of the Istrian coast, just 10 kilometers away from Slovenian border.

The town has Mediterranean climate.

Umag was mentioned for the first time in 7th century by anonymous citizen from Ravenna. The proof are numerous remains of Roman retreats that have been found along the coast. Long time ago, Umag used to be an island. On the entrance to the old part of the town You can see church of Saint Roko built in year 1507 and inside of a church You can see painted wooden ceiling. Umag’s heritage are also church of Parish Church of the Assumption and church of Saint Peregrin.

Public tank from 1677 was restored in 1780. and it is placed behind the Parish Church.  On the east wall of the apse You can see the metal ball for which they believe that is an old cannon ball fired by the Genoese (1810).
Ancient homes with beautiful bifora, streets, emblems and signs are recognizable and well known side of Umag.

Sport at Umag

Umag is a host of ATP tennis tournament, since 1990 and during the tournament many tennis celebrities visit the town. It becomes the center of entartainment and  nightlife.

The first tournament in 1990 was won by the Croatian player Goran Prpic and the second finalist was world known Goran Ivanisevic. The success was repeated  in year 2012, when Croatian player Marin Cilić won the ATP tournament.

Umag is an old but  modern town which offers a various experience for any taste budget.
